Pfister ’ S Theorem for Involutions Of

We use the fact that a projective half-spin representation of Spin 12 has an open orbit to generalize Pfister's result on quadratic forms of dimension 12 in I 3 to orthogonal involutions. In his seminal paper [Pf], Pfister proved strong theorems describing quadratic forms of even dimension ≤ 12 that have trivial discriminant and Clifford invariant, i.e., that are in I 3. His results have been e...

Almost cellular algebras

We obtain results on algebras which have many of the properties of cellular algebras except for the existence of a certain anti-involution. We show that they are applicable to q-walled Brauer-Clifford superalgebras.

Derivations on Certain Semigroup Algebras

In the present paper we give a partially negative answer to a conjecture of Ghahramani, Runde and Willis. We also discuss the derivation problem for both foundation semigroup algebras and Clifford semigroup algebras. In particular, we prove that if S is a topological Clifford semigroup for which Es is finite, then H1(M(S),M(S))={0}.

Representations of Clifford algebras with hyperbolic numbers

The representations of Clifford algebras and their involutions and antiinvolutions are fully investigated since decades. However, these representations do sometimes not comply with usual conventions within physics. A few simple examples are presented, which point out that the hyperbolic numbers can close this gap. A Local-global Principle for Algebras with Involution and Hermitian Forms

Weakly hyperbolic involutions are introduced and a proof is given of the following local-global principle: a central simple algebra with involution of any kind is weakly hyperbolic if and only if its signature is zero for all orderings of the ground field. Also, the order of a weakly hyperbolic algebra with involution is a power of two, this being a direct consequence of a result of Scharlau. A...
